Born Jan. 18, 1926, in Princeville to George and Emma Wyss Asal, he married Delores Van Tassel on July 5, 1952, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Mike (and Kim) of Austin; two grandsons; four sisters, Maxine (and Dale) Chapman of Washington, Aldine (and Albert ) Salter of Marquette Heights, Carol (and Ronald) Fairfield of Monica and Eleanor Asal of Princeville; and two brothers, Jerrold (and Joan) of Peoria and George (and Bonnie) of Gulfport, Miss.
A member of Operating Engineers Local 649, he worked for Ray Hunkler Excavating in East Peoria, retiring in 1988.
He was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Princeville. A church minister will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home.
