She was born Aug. 5, 1911, in Selma, Calif., to James Nelson and Amy Ethel Butler Skelton. Aura graduated from Santa Clara (Ore.) High School in 1929.
She lived in Eugene, Ore., and was a cook until 1952. She then moved to Lewiston, working in the janitorial business, until retiring in the early 1970s.
Aura and Melvin Loper were married Dec. 24, 1932. He died June 22, 1980.
She enjoyed playing the piano, writing poetry and reading and friends and family. Aura was helpful to people in need and helped in any way she could.
Aura is survived by her daughter, Debra; sons, William and Robert; a sister, Lucille; a brother Tom; 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service is at 10 a.m. Monday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston.
