She is often confused with her niece who was named after her. Harriet "Hattie" Van Laak Lutge Sheehy.

To make it easier on everyone, I call them Hattie "The Older" and Hattie "The Younger".

I have seen U.S. Census records that has given Hattie "The Older" birth date listed as 1868, 1874, 1876, 1879. A U.S. Passport has her birth around 1874. I will hold onto the 1868 until proven otherwise.
