Joe had a lifelong passion for firefighting and served as a firefighter in Washington, DC until his retirement after sustaining an injury in the line of duty. In addition to his dedication and rock solid support of his family, Joe was an untiring steward of his tree farm, Whitetail Ridge, just outside of St. Matthews, SC.
A devoted husband to his wife, Barbara, and a dedicated father to his three daughters and son, Joe lived surrounded by the family to which he dedicated his life's work. Along with his wife and four children, Joe passes on a life's legacy to his nine grandchildren who knew him best as "Daddy Joe".
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, Orangeburg, SC.
