Barbara "Bobbie" (McKay) Sanford passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on May 15, 2014. Born in Ross, CA on June 24, 1928 to Patrick and Margaret McKay and predeceased by her loving husband, Ed this past July; she was the mother of eight children, Ed Jr., Mary, Dan, Brian, Michael, Katie, John and Tom; grandmother to eighteen and great grandmother to four. Bobbie attended St. Raphael's Elementary and St. Anselm's High School in Marin where she met the love of her life, Ed Sanford, her "Ederd." on April 27th 1947 at an outing at McNear's Beach. It was love at first sight and they married July 4, 1950. After school, Bobbie began a career in fashion in San Francisco's Union Square. Soon Ed and Bobbie began their family in Berkeley and then moved to Lafayette and finally to the Oakland hills where she was a proud resident. She was active in St. Theresa's parish and school, St. Mary's College High School, and other charitable organizations including Vice President of Catholic Charities. Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass in celebration of Bobbie's life at St. Theresa's Church, 4850 Clarewood Drive, Oakland, CA 94618 on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Bobbie can be made to St. Mary's College High School, 1294 Albina Avenue, Peralta Park, Berkeley, CA. 94706
