Ed Sanford Sr.
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 20, 2013 after a brief illness. Born in Cloverdale on March 9, 1926 to Alice and Samuel Sanford. Beloved husband of Barbara (Bobbie) Sanford, father of Ed Jr., Mary, Dan, Brian, Michael, Katie, John and Tom Sanford. Grandfather of 17, great-grandfather of 4. Ed attended Cloverdale Grammar and High Schools. Ed enlisted in the Army Air Force and attended Marin College and UC Berkeley, graduating with honors in 1950, a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. Ed met the love of his life, Barbara McKay at McNears Beach on April 27, 1947. They were married on July 4, 1950 at St. Raphaels Church. Ed began his career working for NAFI Corp and then worked for Hexcel Corp for 37 years as an Industrial Engineer. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ed truly loved spending cherished time with his immediate family, friends, and all their many daily activities through the years. Ed was a devoted parishioner of St. Theresa parish for over 50 years. Respected personally and professionally and loved by his family, Ed will never be forgotten. Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral mass in celebration of Ed's life at St. Theresa Church, 30 Mandalay, Oakland, CA 94618 (off Clarewood Dr) on Friday, July, 27, 2013 at 11 a.m.
