Ms. Jean Haley age 93 of the Keltonburg Community passed away Sunday April 20, 2014 at NHC of Smithville. She was retired from various jobs, but she most enjoyed her work as an Avon Representative and a homemaker. She was a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She was an active member of the former Keltongburg Home Demonstration Club and the Keltonburg Community Center, and enjoyed feeding the birds and growing flowers. She was born April 22, 1920 to the late Thomas "Red Eye" and Della Miller Cantrell. On September 14, 1942 she married Columbus Haley and they lived happily until he preceded her in death in 1997. She was one of eleven siblings, all who preceded in death: Helen, Fred, Aubrey, James T., Frank "Chick" and Nell Cantrell, Shelby Cripps, Lelia Mai Rigsby, Mattie Lea Stoner, and Cartie Patton. She is survived by four generations of family who loved her; 1 Son: Eugene (Diane) Haley; 2 Granddaughters: Gina (Dennis) Arnold and Chandra (Joe) Adcock; 7 Great Grandchildren: Kealah Curtis, Adam, Jordan, Bryson and Sam Arnold and Shara Cate Adcock, all of Smithville, and Clark Adcock of Martin, Tn.; 1 Great Great Grandson: Gauge Pack of Smithville; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 4:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Monday 4:PM until 8:PM and Tuesday 10:AM until time of the service at 4:PM. Bro. Mike Neal will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Keltonburg United Methodist Church in her honor. DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville is in charge of the arrangements.
