Vera Albertus passed away peacefully December 16, 2013 at the Seasons of Life Hospice. Vera was born Vera Stockmann on June 12, 1925 in Hamburg, Germany. On January 5, 1946 she married Ottomar Albertus in Colburg, Germany. Vera survived the destruction of her home town of Hamburg in World War II, and had vivid recollections of the events. Her husband served in the German Navy. After the war Otto came to America in 1950, leaving behind Vera, who was at the time carrying her first child Sylvia. Vera and Sylvia joined Otto in America in 1952. They settled in Pontiac Illinois, and then moved to Lockport, Illinois. Here they welcomed two more children, daughter Norma and son Mark. Vera was trained in Germany as a bookkeeper and used these skills to work beside her husband in the heating and refrigeration business, first in Illinois. In 1970 Vera and her family moved to Boulder Junction and ran Lakeland Heating and Otto Albertus Real Estate. Vera very much enjoyed gardening and planting just about anything. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Otto, daughter Sylvia and grandson Jonathon. Vera is survived by her son Mark (Christine) of Lac du Flambeau. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Stephanie Blohm, (Robert), Erik, Tanya and Aaron and three great grandchildren, Michael Blohm, Sylvia and Austin. Per Vera's wishes a private graveside service was held.
