Mrs. Ellis was born October 23, 1929 in Dexter, Arkansas, daughter of the late Jessie David Allen and Catherine Cooney Allen. She was a Legal Secretary for many years with the William E. Smith Law Firm in Americus. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law; Nancy Ellis Cochran [Mike] of Americus, Ga. Debra Ellis Garrett of Valdosta, Ga. Emily Ellis Iaconis [Chris] of Locus Grove, Ga. and Kimberly Ellis Williams [Ken] of Atlanta, Ga., one son and daughter-in-law Mike Ellis [Sharon] of Americus, Ga., two sisters Helen Schrepel of Statesboro, Ga. and JoAnn Strozzo of Brooklet, Ga., twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Ellis, a son James Cleveland (Cleve) Ellis and two brothers, Earl Allen and William Allen, two sisters, Mattie Belle Holzer and Marie Norris.
