John Spotswood, III was the eldest Son & 2nd child of 11 children born to Capt. John Spotswood by his wife Sallie Rowzie, he married 5 October 1795 @ Chesterfield County, Virginia to Mary Bland Goode daughter of Robert Goode by his wife Sallie Bland of the Blands of "Jordan's Point" Prince George County, Virginia
He Inherited the tract of land in Orange County, Virginia called "Orange Grove" from his father Capt. John Spotswood, John was the only child to stay in Orange County, Virginia most of all his other siblings settled in Petersburg, Virginia except for Elliott Spotswood went to Huntsville, Alabama, Norborne Berkeley Spotswood settled in Columbia, Missouri, Lucy Rowzie Spotswood married her 1st cousin George Augustine Washington Spotswood they settled in Sangamon County, Illinois
