Hermanner Volksblatt, Hermann, Mo. 5-25-1883 (from German): Last Saturday morning Mrs. Ida Beckmann, the wife of Mr. Chas. Beckmann, died after a long illness, at the age of 34 years. The deceased was well-loved in our community and had a large circle of friends, who deeply mourn her death. At the Sunday afternoon burial that took place at the family burying grounds, nearly 300 people gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased, and to extend condolences to the deeply grieved husbnad. The deceased is survived by her husband and seven children who weep for her death.

Missouri marriage records show Carl Beckmann married Miss Ida Rasche on 10/8/1869 at St Louis, Missouri.

UPDATE: Another graver points out that Ida's gravestone says she died in 1882. But her obituary, which did in fact run in the 5-25-1883 issue of the Hermanner Volksblatt, said she died "last Saturday" and May 19, 1882, the date on her stone, was a Friday. It is probable that the stone is in error on the year of her death.
