Born to Harry Madison Holcomb and Mary Margaret Godfrey (Holcomb) in 1920, Tom had one sister.

Prior to 1930, the family moved to Oakland, CA. Tom served as an officer in the Army Air Force Corps and flew aircraft during WWII, first as a navigator, later to become a B-52 pilot.

He married Caroline Nosler in 1940, and his military assignments ranged from Japan to Germany to Louisiana to California. To this union 3 children were born.

In 1980, Caroline and Tom celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at a family gathering in Olema, CA. Tom unfortunately had a stroke in his late 50's, but was lovingly cared for by Caroline until he passed on 5 January 1981, aged 60 years. His ashes were scattered at sea.
