Frances Ruth Ballard Bruce, 78, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at her residence in Sherman. She was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Okolona to Ernest Carl Ballard and Mary Inez Willis Ballard. She lived in the Dallas, Texas, area many years before returning to her native Northeast Mississippi 32 years ago.
Her working career before retirement included over 20 years as bookkeeper for Roper Toyota in Tupelo. A Baptist, she enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, word search puzzles and watching tennis on TV. A stateroom prayer service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Danny Rushing officiating. Private burial will follow in the Sherman Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Minissale (Kevin) of Gun Barrell City, Texas, Kathy Cormier of Tupelo and Melanie Hendrix (Ralph McGreger) of Sherman; three grandchildren, Chris, Kelly and Rebecca; and two great-grandchildren, Carmine and Ryan; five sisters; two brothers; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
