Harry “Harris” and Sophie had lived in the same shtetl in Poland, yet they met for the first time only after both had come to New York City. Sophie arrived in the USA in about 1902. Harry came some four years later. When they met, Sophie was working in a garment factory and Harry was striving to become a tailor. They married in 1908. She quit her job to became a homemaker/mother.

In 1909 the Rosenbergs’ first child, David, was born. Lena came along in 1912. Twins Ethel and Ida were born in 1914.

Then their last child, Julius was born 12 May 1918. (From "Ethel Rosenberg: Beyond the Myths," by Philipson. Rutgers University Press, 1993)
