Theodore was the only child born to David Franklin Van Blaricom and Nancy J. Long (nee Snyder), who married on 6 Jul 1901 in Grant County, Indiana. It was a third marriage for Nancy. She had first married Charles E. Thomas in 1888 and had daughter Mary with him in 1891. In 1892, she married John H. Long. She had three more daughters with him--Ethel F. (b.1893), Hazel V. (b.1895), and Vera M. (b.1898). She had been widowed since May of 1900.

Frank and Nancy appeared together on a city directory for Marion, Grant County in 1903, living at 2508 W. 10th Street. Frank was identified as a laborer. Also among the Van Blaricoms living in Marion was Frank's older brother Isaac.

When the 1910 Census was taken, Nancy, aged 40, and Frank, aged 42, had moved to Plymouth, Center Township, Marshall, Indiana, where Frank was farming for a living. Nancy reported that she had had three children but that none had survived to that census, clearly in error, as home with her were two of her children--daughter Mary E. Thomas, aged 19, and daughter Hazel V. Long, aged 15. Daughter Ethel had married, but daughter Vera, who would have only been 12 years old, was not with them. Likely Nancy meant to indicate that three of the children she had had were living, not 0 out of 3. Worth noting is that in 1900, she reported that she had had six children but that two had died prior to that year. Also living with the family in 1910 was 1-year-old David F. Hopkins, identified as a step-grandson to Frank. Best guess is that his surname was actually Hudkins and that his parents were Nancy's daughter Ethel and her husband Alvin Hudkins. Ethel and Alvin appear to have separated, as Alvin married again in 1925 but Ethel didn't die until 1967.

Nancy and Frank welcomed Theodore on 11 Feb 1912. Nancy would have been 42. Before eight more years would pass, Nancy would depart this earth. Frank, widowed, aged 52, appeared without her on the 1920 Census, still living in Plymouth with Theodore, aged 8. Frank gave his occupation as general laborer.

On 16 Apr 1921, Frank remarried, exchanging vows with Ada M. Hartsough, the daughter of Albert Barber and Sarah Reynolds, in Marshall County.

When the 1930 Census came around, I expected to find Frank, aged 62, with Ada. Instead, he was living in Plymouth with his brother Isaac, aged 65, both of them designated as widowed. Also there was Theodore, aged 18. All three were laboring at odd jobs.

Theodore married sometime before the next census in 1940, exchanging vows with Esther E. Sutherlin. They were living in Plymouth in 1940, but Frank wasn't with the couple. Theodore, aged 28, was working as a caretaker for this cemetery. The couple had welcomed the first two of their at-least-seven children--Raymond (b.1838), and Eldora (b.1940). In Eldora's 2013 obituary, five other siblings are mentioned--David, Nancy, Caroline, Donna and Bonnie.

Theodore died in October of 1968 at age 56. As wife Esther's death year has not yet been etched into place, perhaps she still lives.
