DELHI — Jean E. Northrop, 74, a lifelong Elk Creek, Delhi, resident, passed away peacefully Monday night, June 13, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

The daughter of William A. and Virginia (Lasher) Buel, she was born July 5, 1930, in Delhi, was a 1948 graduate of Delaware Academy, and married Robert Y. Northrop on Aug. 20, 1950, in the First Baptist Church, a union of almost 55 years.

A licensed practical nurse since 1976, Jean was employed at Countryside Care Center for 33 years until failing health last year.

Jean was a 54-year active member of the Delhi First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served in the Ladies Aid Society; Delhi Grange No. 1192; Elk Creek Club; and a founding member of the Delhi Bird Club.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Y. Northrop; a daughter, Patricia Bundy and her companion, Ron Coe, of Oneonta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Kim Northrop of Lynchburg, Va., and Marc and Bonnie Northrop of Hobart; four grandchildren, Tom and Nathan Bundy and Krista and Devon Northrop; a brother, Ralph and Irene Buel of Delhi; a sister, Charlotte and John Johnson of Atlantic, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Anna Buel of Delhi; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Janice Northrop; sister Marilyn; and brother Louis Buel.

Friends are invited to call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 17, when the family will be in attendance at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, and funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Staples officiating, and burial in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association will be appreciated.
