She was born in Delhi, N.Y., on June 28, 1933, to William A. and Virginia (Lasher) Buel. She was a 1951 graduate of Delaware Academy, Delhi. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her family.
She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Greenville, and was a senior vice regent of Colonel Crawford Daughters of the American Revolution, Meadville Chapter. While residing in New York, she was active with 4-H and had served as a club leader in Delaware and Schuyler Counties for 15 years. She was a leader in AWANA, Watkins Glen, N.Y., and in 1995 was honored as the Leader Of The Year. Her interests included cooking, sewing, knitting, fishing and hunting.
On June 2, 1956, she married John E. Johnson, who survives at home. Also surviving are three daughters, Joan E. Johnson of Greenville, Virginia C. Kinne and her husband, Peter, of Lakemont, N.Y., and Amy M. Stevenson and her husband, Roy, of Greenville; a son, John E. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Mt. Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Irene Buel of Delhi; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marilyn Buel and Jean Northrop; and three brothers, Howard Buel, Louis Buel and Ralph Buel.
Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Harvest Baptist Church, Greenville, with the Rev. Jeremy D. McClain, pastor of the church, officiating.
Burial of cremains will be private in Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale, N.Y.
