RICHMOND - Hazel M. Higgins, 88, of Hathorn Street, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Richmond Eldercare. She was born on Dec. 22, 1925, in Richmond, the daughter of Grover and Mildred Pushard.

Hazel was a member of many organizations, including St. Ambrose Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars 778 Bath charter member, trustee Maple Grove Cemetery, Lions Club Richmond and Dresden Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, writing letters, plants and playing bingo.

Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Higgins; sister Thelma Russell; and brother Earl Pushard.

She is survived by her son, Frank Higgins; brother Robert Pushard, of Dresden; brother-in-law Bill Russell, of Bath; sister in-law Frances Bixby; special cousin Pearl Strout; and several cousins.

In Hazel's name, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, 27 Atlantic Highway, Edgecomb, ME 04556.

Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dresden. Special thanks to Dr. Lindsley, St. Ambrose Church, special friends Pat Gaudreau, Marilyn Carey, Jane Gower, Sally Jacobs and Richmond Eldercare.
