Rudy Atwood was the accompanist on "The Old Fashioned Revival Hour" from 1938 until 1969. Many people attended the live broadcasts of "The Old Fashioned Revival Hour" at the Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California just to watch Rudy play the piano. His treble arpeggios and octave bass runs added a Bach-like accompaniment as his hands seemingly flew across the keyboard. He has been called the Dean of Gospel Pianists and at least two generations have emulated his distinctive style.

Arthur Rudolph "Rudy" Atwood was born 16 Dec. 1912 in Marion, Williamson Co., Illinois. He was the son of Arthur Atwood and Daisy Hamlet. The Atwood family moved to California and there Rudy married Marguerite Grace Murray 07 Nov 1938 in Los Angeles, CA. They had two children, Elisabeth Robin and Mark Atwood. Rudy had one brother, Harley.

Rudy started music lessons when he was ten years old and became the pianist in his church at the age of fourteen. He served the Lord with his music ministry the rest of his life. He traveled all over the United States and Canada performing in sacred concerts, conferences, churches, camp meetings and youth rallies.

Rudy was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior 16 Oct 1992 while at the piano in the Country Church of Hollywood after playing "When They Ring The Golden Bells".
