Canandaigua – Florence D. Richardson, age 96, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 1, 2015, at home. Florence was born in Buffalo and was the daughter of William and Frances (Savage) Dunn. She lived in Le Roy and Tarrytown, NY, retiring with her husband Henry M. Richardson to Canandaigua Lake and Ormond Beach, FL in 1979. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and a master's degree from Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass. She relished her summers on Canandaigua Lake for over eighty years on the property her parents acquired in the 1930s. She belonged to the Rushville United Methodist Church and volunteered at Sonnenberg Gardens both as a docent and fundraiser. Dedicated to community outreach, she volunteered in a number of capacities in Tarrytown, serving as President and area chairman of Church Women United and Director of the Warner Library. Florence was a volunteer with Red Cross Calls, a member of the Historical Society and the Fortnightly Club. In Florida, she volunteered with the Ormond Beach Library and the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences and was a member of the Daytona chapter of AAUW.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Raymond) Luthi and Martha Richardson; five grandsons, William and Ethan Richardson, Peter and John Luthi and Eamon Monaghan; one granddaughter, Cailin Monaghan; and seven great-grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband Henry M. Richardson and son William E. Richardson.
