There is a marriage record for him in 1870. He married Lucy Chapman on February 20, 1870, Livonia, Wayne, MI. In 1890, he was in Walker Township, Kent, MI. He is buried in Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, with Lucy. On his death record, his mother is listed as Rebecca BORDEN.

There is a divorce record for Rebecca Oothout vs Henry Oothout that was filed on May 3, 1845 (pg 177, Divorce Records for Oakland County 1839-1865). She was 36, a resident of Farmington Township, Oakland Co, MI. Her husband, Henry Oothout was 38. They married in Sharon, Schoharie Co, NY on August 9, 1828. She lived in Sharon four months with her husband when they moved from one place to another for six or seven moves. They finally settled in Syracuse, New York. He lived with her there for about one year and finally he deserted her and she has never seen him since nor has he provided for her. It is now over seven years since he deserted her and she as been compelled to maintain herself and her children by her own labor as best she could. She could not provide for them unassisted, so she left New York and removed to Farmington, Oakland County, where she now lives because if she came there friends could help her. She has been informed that Henry is in Monroe County, Ohio, engaged as a boatman and she is uncertain where he is now. Depositions given by John and Mary Ann McGowan and John D. Borden. Divorce was granted July 2, 1846, case #1877.
