In this town, April 24, Mr. Abel Shorey, aged 77 years and 10 months. ... In his last moments he spoke of the preciousness of the Savior, of desiring and expecting soon to be with him in his kingdom; and just before he expired in answer to the question, "Is all well?" he whispered, "All is peace -- all is peace."
A death notice was also published in The St. Johnsbury Caledonian on April 28, 1845.
It was suggested that Abel's parents were Jacob Shorey and Kezia Carpenter. No source provided;; could not confirm.
