OBITUARY :
LEWIS NELSON "LOUIE" McCLAIN, 81, a resident of the Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of 25230 Military Road, Cascade, Md., died Wednesday, March 11, at the center.
He and his wife, Loretta Harbaugh McClain, were married March 26, 1932. Mrs. McClain is now a resident of the Comfort Care Home in Fairfield.
Born in Sabillasville, Md., Frederick County, he was the son of the late John R. and Anna Bell Moser McClain. He lived most of his life in the Sabillasville and Cascade, Md., areas.
Mr. McClain served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He was employed at various Maryland State Hospitals. Prior to his retirement on Dec. 1, 1975, he was employed at the Western Maryland State Hospital in Hagerstown, Md. While he was employed, he would invent various objects to help the patients have more mobility. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville, Md.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty M. Martin of Fairfield and Charlotte A. Milligan of Lewisburg; two sisters, Evelyn Moore of Cascade, Md. and Edith Morrow of Newport, Tenn.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Galen E. Hahn officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Church Cemetery in Cascade, Md.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Meadow Dialysis Facility, 1714 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
