James W. Moore, 71, of Port St. Joe, Florida, formerly of Birmingham, died today in a Panama City hospital after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 1-:30 a.m. Thursday at Johns-Ridout's Chapel with burial in Elmwood.
Borin in Valley Head, Alabama, he attended Birmingham Southern College and was a veteran of World War II. For many years he lived in Birmingham before moving to Mobile where he was in business until poor health forced his retirement. Mr. Moore was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Bell Archibald Moore; son, James W. Moore, Jr. of Monroe, Louisiana; daughter Frances (Mrs. Henry A.) Stikes of Port St. Joe, Florida; sisters, Verda Moore and Ida Moore, both of Valley Head, Alabama, and Ethel Moore of Birmingham; brothers, Robert E. Moore of Tuscumbia, Alabama, J. Fred Moore of Mobile, Alabama; four grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
