Lloyd "Mick" Wendel Cornish, 82, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 5, 2014.

Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Kingsley. Rev. Robert Blair will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, with a prayer service scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home, Kingsley. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Wednesday.

Mick was born on December 31, 1931, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Harry Barr Cornish and Iva Mae (Puffer) Cornish. He graduated from Kingsley High School.

Mick was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. After the war, he worked for many years at Well's Blue Bunny Ice Cream and was a lifelong resident of Kingsley.

Mick is survived by many nieces and nephews, and his friend and companion Bonnie Albers, along with her daughters Peggy, Jackie, and Karen.

In addition to his parents, Mick was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma (Hagar) Cornish and all five of his siblings: Louise, Forrest, Esther, Earl, and Merle.
