In 1860, he married Mary Delaney, grand-daughter of a veteran of the American Revolution.
After they were married, they moved to Greensburg, the county seat of Westmoreland County. They lived near the old courthouse during their stay in Greensburg, Pa. Two children were born to this happy couple, Susie and James, but then came the war which brok (sic) up everything, and the hardships began. David Baughman was called to arms to defend the North. Mary with her two small children left Greensburg and moved down to Covington, Kentucky, a state of good whiskey, fast horses and pretty women. While Mary was in Kentucky another little girl came into the family of Mary and David. This little girl was named Emily.
David served in The Northern Army. He enlisted 23 June, 1864, in Covington, Kentucky, into Co. B Reg. Vol. Inf.
In 1880, the Baughmans lived in North Versailles, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
