When Nancy Jane was 21, the entire family immigrated to Grenville County, Ontario, near her mother's brothers, John and James Carmichael. She married Scotsman Robert James McGowan about 1869.
She is still listed as Nancy on the Canadian census, but as Agnes on her children's birth registrations. They had six children.
Sadly her husband died in 1880, just 34, and by 1900 Agnes was living with her daughter Agnes in Philadelphia, where she lived a long, happy life with her daughters Mary Ann and Agnes, son-in-law James Derby and her grandchildren.
Died in Ivyland, Berks County, at the home of her daughter Agnes Derby.
