October 16, 1878: The grandmother (Susan Winifred Rebecca Ellis Jackson), of the infant, wrote in her journal: "Mary (Mary Emily Jackson Byrns) sent after me this morning. She was very sick, had her baby 15 minutes before 11 o'clock. It only lived a few hours, it was a sweet little boy. She is suffering very much tonight. Dr. Matthews & Dr. Hawkins, Mrs. Fiser & Emily all there. I am very tired today, will go to bed early tonight
October 17--Thursday--A rainy morning. Boys could do nothing this morning. I sewed a little and went over to see Mary a few minutes this eve. They buried the little babe at our graveyard..." -PAG
