Mrs. E.B. Gilmer died at her home in Crawford last Wednesday afternoon, her death having resulted from pneumonia. Mrs. Gilmer had lived a long and eventful life, having reached the advanced age of eighty years before God called her to her final home. She was the widow of the late Nick Gilmer, who was for a number of years a prominent citizen of this county, and was a member of a prominent Georgia family, having been before her marriage Miss Ellen Barnett. She is survived by a son, Mr. John R. Gilmer, who lives at Penn Station, and a daughter, Mrs. S.J. Timberlake, who lives at Jackson, Tenn. Besides her son and daughter, she leaves a number of other relatives, having been distantly related to Hon. Z. P. Landrum and Capt. G. N. Smith, of this city.
The body was brought to Columbus for interment, it having arrived over the Mobile & Ohio Railroad at 3:30 o'clock on Thursday afternoon. The funeral occurred immediately after the arrival of the train, having taken place at Friendship cemetery, where the body was laid to rest. Dr. J.W. Shoaff, pastor of the First Methodist church, was the officiating clergymen, and the pall bearers were Messrs. J. A. Neilson, F. M. Vaughn, W. E. Pope, W. C. Beard, C. F. Sherrod and B. A. Weaver. The gentlemen who officiated as pall bearers at Crawford and who accompanied the body to Columbus were Messrs. D.P. Brooks, Will Hinkle, W.A. Hartman, B.V. Halbert, J.S. Nance and Charles Kier.
