JOHNSTON CITY -- John Paul Barham 96, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the home of his daughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 5, in Barham Cemetery in Marion. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Marion VFW, American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Johnston City's food pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or the cemetery.

He was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Williamson County, the son of John D. and Grace Bell (Odle) Barham.

He married Margaret C. (Curry) in 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2004.

He retired from Giles Armature and Electric in Marion after 20 years. He previously worked as a coal miner. He was a Veteran of World War II proudly serving in the Navy Seabee's 28th Division.

He is survived by one daughter, Marsha McNeill and husband, John, of Marion; two granddaughters, Paula Jo Davison and husband, David, of Johnston City, and Andrea McNeill Anderson and husband, Robert, of Johnston City; four great-grandchildren, Daniel and Jacob Davison, and Amelia and Ava Anderson; one sister, Opal Finley of Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Fred Barham; and a sister, Olive Pribble.
