"Military services for Army Sgt. Ronald G. Mayhew, 24, Indianapolis, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Jordan-Lawrence Funeral Home. Calling will be until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until services Tuesday. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Mayhew was among 248 soldiers killed in the Arrow Air jet crash at Gander, Newfoundland, in December. He volunteered last July for the multi-national force in the Sinai and was en route to the United States after completing the military peace-keeping assignment when the plane crashed. He was one of 12 Hoosier servicemen killed in the accident. Before joining the Army in 1979, Mayhew attended Tech High School from 1976-79. He enlisted in the Army to learn a job skill, studying diesel mechanics, and obtained his General Equivalency Diploma. He was a member of Eastside Methodist Church, Fort Campbell, Ky. Survivors- wife Donna Gilbert Mayhew; son Ronald Gene Mayhew II; daughter Christine Marie Mayhew; parents Everett and Anna Mayhew."
