George Everett Van Horn was born on December 11, 1903, the third son of Joseph "Jay" and Edna Rood Van Horn. His older brothers are Dale Rex Van Horn and Ross Rood Van Horn.

Everett graduated with a B.A. Degree from Milton College, Milton, Wisconsin.

On August 16, 1936, Everett married Caroline Barbara Sauer. The 1940 U.S. Federal Census tells that he is married to Caroline Van Horn (28) and he is 36. He is an artist and has a four year college degree. They live in Lincoln, Lancaster, Nebraska.

Everett's funeral was held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Nebraska.
