Michael Schipper of the town of Manitowoc, committed suicide yesterday morning by cutting his throat.

He has been insane, having been twice sent to the Oshkosh Asylum. During the two days preceding his death he was quite nervous and told his wife that he could not see he was of any use in this world. Wednesday morning he got up quite early sharpened a butcher knife and cut his throat while out in the yard, severing the jugular vein so that he quickly bled to death.

He was a man of about 45 years of age and had quite a nice farm just outside the city limits. A coroner's inquest was held and a verdict given in accordance with the facts here stated.

Schipper made various attempts on his own life and was considered dangerous. When last sent to the Oshkosh Asylum he was discharged after having been kept but one month. A good deal of indignation is expressed at this proceeding.
