Clyde Trainer, Former Clarion Resident, Dies
Clarion - Clyde F. Trainer, 78, former Clarion resident, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Young, Knox RD. Born on October 11, 1883, in Beaver Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Alfred and Agnes Wenner Trainer. He was married to the former Anna Bish, who died in August 1956. Mr. Trainer was a charter member of Clarion Volunteer Fire Department. Retiring from the department a number of years ago, he had been named an honorary member of the organization. He also was a member of Methodist Church of Clarion. For a number of years, he operated Fair Grounds Service Station at the corner of Main Street and First Avenue. He retired from the station business in 1953. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Irene McCan, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs. Margaret Young and Gerald C. Trainer, both of Clarion. Also surviving are five grandchildren. Three sons and two daughters preceded him in death. One son, Staff Sergeant Clyde F. Trainer, Jr., was killed in a state-side training accident during World War II. Friends will be received at J. Ward Kier Funeral Home, Clarion, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. George Myers, pastor of Clarion Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Clarion Cemetery.
