"Funeral services for Hugh A. Sprague, 79 years old, 1912 West Northgate Street, retired blade designer for Allison Division of General Motors Corporation, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. He died Friday in a local nursing home.
A lifelong Indianapolis resident, he retired from Allison in 1953 after 11 years of service. Earlier he was a landscaping engineer for the Indiana State Highway Department. He served 15 months in France in World War I with the US Army's 23rd Engineers Corps.
He was a licensed engineer and a member of the Indiana Astronautical Society. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ethel D. Sprague, two sons, Richard E. Sprague of New York City and Robert C. Sprague of Bloomfield, Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Iske of Indianapolis; two brothers, Reid B. Sprague of Winter Haven, Florida and Richard E. Sprague of Indianapolis, and five grandchildren."
