James Moses Allen Sr.,81, of 100 First Ave. NE, died Saturday in his home. Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel East, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic services will be conducted by Mount Hermon Lodge 263 AF&AM. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery .

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pansy; a daughter, N. June Vogt; a grandson; and three brothers.

He was born Nov. 3, 1910, in Chehalis, Wash., and married Pansy E. McKeehan on Feb. 22, 1929, in Littleton, Colo. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Institute of Accounting in 1931 and Coyne Electric School in 1934.

Mr. Allen was a resident of Cedar Rapids since 1938. He founded Allen Supply Co. Inc. in 1946, and was president until 1975, when he sold the company and retired. After retiring he served as treasurer of El Kahir Shrine Circus until 1988 and then was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. He served his industry in various capacities for many years. He was past president of Central States Industrial Distributors Association, a director of MorAmerica Financial Corp. and Morris Plan Cos. until 1982, when he sold his holding and resigned.

Mr. Allen was a charter member and past president of the YMCA Toastmasters Club, a director of the Young Men's Bureau (now Jaycees), a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mount Hermon Masonic Lodge 263 AF&AM, Cedar Rapids Consistory, El Kahir Shrine Temple, Malta Chapter 415 OES, YMCA and the Chamber of Commerce. He was past general chairman of Iowa Grand Assembly of Rainbow for Girls and served as member and chairman of the Cedar Rapids Assembly No. 11 Advisory Board and as Rainbow Dad several times. He was designated master of the Grand Cross of Color by the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
