Sinking Spring-Sept. 9-The body of Staff Sgt. William Nace, killed in action in France at the age of 22, has been brought home for burial and will remain in the home of his parents, Frank and Lulu Puckett Nace, at Sinking Spring.
Last rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Sinking Spring Methodist church, with Rev. Prentiss Spears officiating. Burial will be in Marshall cemetery under the direction of Wylie funeral home. Military honors at the grave will be in charge of the Hillsboro American Legion post.
Staff Sgt. Nace lost his life June 8, 1944 at Grandville, France. HE was born March 6, 1922, attended Sinking Spring school and was active in all school sports until his graduation in 1940.
After entering the army Oct. 21, 1942, he trained at Tyndall Field, Fla., and Sheppard Field, Tex., before going overseas Feb. 15, 1944, as a waist gunner in a bomber squadron.
HE is survived by his parents and two brothers, Russell of Sinking Spring and Coleman, of Dayton, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Millie Puckett of Sinking Spring.
