Rose was the 12th of 14 children born to Cornelius Mayham and Julia Ann Reynolds Mayham. Her father relocated the family to Blenheim, New York about 1850 where he was a farmer. He died when she was four years of age and her mother relocated the family to Gilboa, New York. In 1860, she resided for a time in the household of Lyman and Eliza Wilcox at Harpersfield, New York. She returned to her mother’s home at Gilboa by 1865. Rose married to Charles Gorse Keator on 2 May 1870 at Roxbury, New York. They made their home at Bovina Valley, near Roxbury, with her husband’s parents, Abram and Ruth Keator, where her husband was a farmer with his father. About 1894, they relocated permanently to Roxbury where her husband was the owner of a creamery. Rose and Charles were the parents of three children; Harry Mayham Keator, Anna Smith Keator, and Ruth Frisbee Keator.
*Note-her middle name was also found as Camellia in some records and the name Keator was found with many spelling variations.
