Harry's primary education was at the "Little Red School House" in Roxbury, New York. He was graduated from Stamford Seminary at Stamford, New York in 1890 and from Williston Seminary at Easthampton, Massachusetts in 1893. In 1897, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University. He excelled in athletic sports and while at Williston, was captain of the football team, a member of the baseball team, and won many track honors. He excelled in tennis and was fond of fishing and hunting, too. Following his graduation from Yale, he was director of physical education and assistant instructor in science for one year at Williston Seminary. He then took up the study of medicine and graduated in 1902 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York City with the Doctor of Medicine degree and in 1904, began private practice in New York City. He was a member of the Yale Club, University Club of New York City, and of Holland Society of New York. About 1912, his health began to decline. He was remembered by friends and colleagues as being kind and considerate; an active and loyal citizen; and, a sincere and faithful friend. He had never married and was survived by two sisters.

Harry was a member of the Executive Committee of the John More Association since 1905 and Chairman since 1910. He attended every Reunion in Roxbury beginning in 1890. It was he who conceived the idea of, and shouldered the burden of working out the details of, the pageant which was performed at the 1915 Reunion.
