Mr. Walkup worked in the switchroom for General Telephone Co. He enjoyed auctions and was a licensed auctioneer. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Linwood Church of Christ. He was active in Colt Baseball and an avid Purdue Fan and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving with his wife are six sons, Steve D. Moody (wife: Debbie), Phillip W. Walkup and Daniel H. Walkup (wife: Theresa), all of Lafayette, Kenneth J. Walkup (wife: Laura) of Nipoms, CA, Paul H. Walkup (wife: Mary Ann) of Martica, CA, and David I. Walkup (wife: Jody) of Indianapolis; two brothers, Richard Walkup of Kentland and Calvin Walkup of Attica; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, April 25, at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, and one hour prior to 11 AM services Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Linwood Church of Christ, the Rev. Jason Hite officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, with full military graveside rites.
