Mary McCann was born on April 9, 1814 to John McCann and Martha Gilmore McCann in County Down, Northern Ireland. Mary had 4 brothers, Thomas-1814, Archibald-(1815), Jane-1816, John-1817, William-1818.

She married Robert Lowry @ Presbyterian Church May 5, 1840, in Killinchy, Down, Ireland.

Their 7 children were Ellen Jane(Davidson), Andrew, John M.(May), David L., Mary Alice(Mcmaster), Robert S.(Mary Jane) and Henry. They immigrated to the USA and settled (when their youngest child, Henry was 5 years old) in Center Township, Rock County, Wisconsin. Ellen married and remained in Ireland until she and husband Joseph moved to South Dakota to raise their large family/remaining and living there to their deaths.

Mary and Robert farmed in the LaPrairie township, Janesville, WI.area for a number of years. He passed in 1875-granddaughter Mary Lowry Mcmaster was born in 1877/passing in 1878. Mary moved when daughter Mary Alice(known as Aunt "Mollie")and husband W. Charles Mcmaster moved with their children to Alexandria, So. Dakota for agriculture-Maude, Berniece and leaving Lowry family roots in the WI. settlement of LaPrairie/extended cousins Adam Lowry family.

She was blessed to be with her daughter and watching grandchildren grow up in the area.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1875 and a grandchild Mary L. Mcmaster in 1878, two of John's children. She died in Alexandria at 84 years,8 days and was laid to rest in Janesville, WI. where her husband was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Her descendants continue through son Robert Lowry(Mary Jane) and her immediate gr.gr. gr grandchildren Colleen Lowry families in Wisconsin (Keen)families-twins Holly and Heather, Heidi, and Eric Keen-families continued to bless with 4X gr. grandchildren Noah & Oliver Best, Elias Lowry Andrews, Macey, Fletcher and Everly Knapp, Matthew Robert Keen and Josephine Keen.
