(1) No evidence that she was a Maltby. Her husband's second cousin, also Samuel Squire (memorial #9073304), did marry an Abigail Maltby at Stamford in 1744.
(2) No evidence that this Abigail was born in Dutchess County, NY; highly unlikely.

I agree, thank you William Carr. So many trees on Ancestry have them mixed up. In addition, I believe the first 4 children's mother was this Abigail and I think the the subsequent 4 were the children of wife #2 Sarah (unknown) who later married John Sutlief. Apparently Abigail was dead when the last 4 were born...The guardianship papers for the younger 4 in Samuel's probate papers name Sarah as guardian. She is referred to as widow Sarah Squire and later as Sarah Sutlief when property was distributed.
