"John Thomas Lewis, 91, died at the family residence in the Corinth community Monday, Jan. 5. 1953. He had been ill for several months.

Mr. Lewis, a native of Milam county, was born in that community March 19, 1861 and had lived there all of his life. He was a retired farmer and was one of the oldest native citizens in the county at the time of his death.

He was the father-in-law of Mrs. Ida Belle Lewis, supervisor of the rural schools in this county.

Mr. Lewis lived on a plot of ground that was deeded to his father by the Mexican General Santa Anna.

Funeral services were scheduled at Marek-Burns funeral home at 2 p. m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 with Dr. Mark Magers, pastor First Methodist church officiating.

Interment in the Corinth cemetery.

Survivors include eight sons, J. D. Lewis of Buckholts, Floyd Lewis of Austin, H. S. Lewis of Houston, J. S. Lewis of Lovington N. M., L. T. "Buck" Lewis of Dallas, J. H. Lewis, F. D. "Kidd" Lewis and Leon Lewis all of Fort Worth; three sisters, Mrs. Satsa Walschak of Buckholts, Mrs. Faye Love of Fort Worth and Mrs. Hazel Brady of Austin. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers were the following grandchildren, F. D. Lewis, Jr., I. T. Lewis, Jr., David Lewis, Louis Love, Edward Love, H. S. Lewis, Jr., Howard Brady and Peter Brady."
