Luci, I guess I will go way back. I remember baby sitting with you.
You took your first steps for me. I remember when you started school
at Metz, Ind.

After Sharon Kay was born, you and Lindy would come and stay
with us at the Baldwin farm in the summer. Remember all the
chicken I fried. We had a lot of chickens.

You baby sat with Sharon and Ron when John was born.

When we used to go visit Mom at Lake James. One time Shirley
climbed up on the porch roof to wake George and I, and you wanted
Shirley to do the hand jive and dive into a cup of water, and Mom woke
up and cought you girls. Boy was she mad.

When Steve was born at Partello, you met Andy. He was at Fort Custer.

So we have always stayed very close. I think I am closer to you than
than any of the rest of my family

So Happy Birthday Sissy and have many, many more

Love
Sister Katie

Aunt Lucy,
I don't know where to start, there are so many memories. Remember when I came to stay
with you when I was about four or five. I think I was going to stay a week, and I got
home sick and did not want to tell you and look like a baby, so I quit eating and you had
to take me home because you thought I was getting sick.
You gave me my first hair cut without Dad getting mad. I remember when we lived in
Partello when you met Uncle Andy and his friend Jim Fitch.
Remember one time when we lived in Quincy, you took Bev., Valanda and I roller skating,
and you and Gert left us there and went into Angola. When you picked us up and was taking
us home, you were singing and yodeling, and Gert said Lucy there is a cop car way there with his
lights flashing and you stopped. When he came to the car he asked how come you were in such a
hurry. You said You were late getting us girls home, and did want our parents to kill you.
He said that at the speed you were driving, he thought you might be trying to do that
yourself.
We have had a lot of fun doing genealogy and going cemetery hunting together.
You have always been there for me, and I have been able to talk to you about anything.
I love you very much, and know there is so much more I could write, but I don't think
there is enough paper for that.
Aunt Lucy this is your day. Have a very Happy Birthday, and many, many more.

Love Sharon

DEAR MY AUNT LUCY,

One of the most touching times I treasure about MY aunt Lucy is when My dad
died. My sisters and I went into the funeral home in Hamlet Indiana to take
care of funeral arrangements for dad, and there was MY aunt Lucy waiting for
us. She was there because she did not want us to go through that time
alone. Aunt Lucy I will never forget that wonderful act of love you showed
toward all of us.

I spent a week with you aunt Lucy when uncle Lindy was so sick. We were in
Dicks house in Freemont, you, uncle Bob, and my self took care of Lindy. you
cooked corn bread, and I bought him butter milk. I picked pie plant from the
neighbors yard, and you baked rhubarb pie. With you we were a team working
hard to take care of a brother-uncle that we loved so dearly, and still do.
we went to Kentucky, and dug around our family roots. You took me to the
grave of my great-great grandpa Birchfield.

I have traveled with you many miles, gone to many garage sales looking for
treasures. And what you do with them garage sale treasures will be our
secret.

I really could write a book about My aunt Lucy. You are so full of life, and
full of love for me, and all of your family. You dearly adore your husband,
daughter, and GRANDSON. In any time of sorrow you are there with wide open
arms ready to hold who ever needs to be held close. Your heart is so grand,
and full of love that it tears you apart to lose any of your loved ones. You
speak so tenderly of your family. And you are proud to be related to all of
us. You praise us, lift us up, but we are the lucky ones, we receive more
from you, than we give to you. I am honored to be asked if I would write a
letter to tell you what you mean to me. I made an attempt to do that, but
these word fall short of what My aunt Lulu means to me Shirley Lee Wireman
your oldest niece. I love you with all my heart and soul, and I thank God
every day I get to have you on this earth.

Have a wonderful birthday aunt Lucy..and God willing many more..love Shirley
