Jacob 'Jake' Dunaway married Elizabeth Jane Dunaway, his first cousin, one time removed who was the daughter of William Marion 'Capt Billy' Dunaway, Jake's first cousin. Jacob and Elizabeth had a son George, the brother of their son Jacob Lee Dunaway. Captain Billy had a son James C. Dunaway, the brother of Elizabeth. James C. Dunaway had a daughter named Milissa.

George Dunaway, son of Jake and Elizabeth, fell in love with the daughter of Jim Dunaway and wanted to marry her. Jim Dunaway didn't like it. Jim Dunaway ordered George Dunaway to stay away from his house. George Dunaway went there one night and killed Jim Dunaway, and shot his wife and made the girl go home with him. The trial was asked for and George Dunaway could not be found. He remained hid for over a year before they caught him. He was tried and "Stringer Cummings" was his lawyer. Cummings entered a law suit with the understanding that he would not let them hang Dunaway, but Dunaway got a sentence for life in the state pen.
