Mable McLaughlin Smith

Mable McLaughlin Smith of Gassaway passed away on July 2, 2007, at Valley Center in South Charleston while convalescing from a recent fall.

She was born Nov. 3, 1916, at Triplett. She was the last surviving child of Francis B. and Cora Scott McLaughlin.

She married Wayne Smith in 1937 and he passed away in 1994.

Mable was a 50-year plus member of the Gassaway Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired clerk from the Foodland in Sutton. She attended the Gassaway United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by nine siblings, her brothers, Carl, Jake, Bland, Bert, Doyle and Jack McLaughlin, and sisters, Blanch McElwain, Maysel Rader and Marjorie Brady.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Gassaway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nolan Turner officiating. Private burial will be in the Bealls Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.
