Edward A. Ackerman, 76, 1726 Royal Court, Eau Claire, Wis., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1995, at his home. Edward was born on Dec. 20, 1918, in Lancaster, Wis., to Edward and Barbara (Krause) Ackerman. He was raised on his family's farm in southwestern Wisconsin. He graduated from Monroe High School at the age of 16 and graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1942 with a bachelor of science degree from the College of Agriculture. He was a member of Alpha Zeta, Phi Eta Sigma and Delta Sigma fraternities. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1 942, and was a Second lieutenant, Air Commander and a B29 flight instructor during World War II. Edward married Margaret Barry Feb. 16, 1944, at St. Mary's Ridge in Cashton, Wis. He worked as sales manager for Dairy Maid Products for 19 years. He founded E.A- Ackerman Dairy Products, Inc. in 1964, and operated the business until his death. In 1976, he became a co-owner of Indianhead FoodService Dist., Inc. Ed was a strong supporter of parochial education and catholic charities. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish where he was past president of the parish council, past president of the Holy Name Society and a member of the finance committee. He was the first athletic director of Regis High School. Ed was also a charter member of the Regis High School Foundation and a recipient of the foundation's NON SIBI Award. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 402 and Moose Lodge 1408. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; four sons.. six daughters...18 joyous grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Lois) of Monroe, Wis., and Lowell of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Violet Schult of Rewey, Wis., Velma Folt of Rockford, Ill., and Alvina Wood of Monroe, Wis.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Melvin; one sister, Viola Schadewaldt. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon Friday, Jan. 27, at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Interment will be in The Chapel of The Resurrection Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at Fuller Funeral Home where there will be a 7 p.m. Public Rosary recited.
