Adella Caldwell Rich, 85, went home with her Lord on Monday, April 21, 2014.


Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at Springer Cemetery, Springer, New Mexico. A memorial service will follow at Jubilee Hall in Springer. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas, Texas.


Della was born in Springer, New Mexico on November 6, 1928. She was the seventh child of Berlin and Elizabeth Sammon Caldwell.


One of Della's first jobs was a telephone operator in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She also served as a magistrate judge, worked as a bookkeeper, and waitress and in a fruit cannery. She was also a ranch wife at the Turkey Track Ranch in Texas. After moving from Texas back to New Mexico, she continued to be very active in her church and community. Delia was on the Board of Directors for the Northeastern New Mexico Economic Development Board, the Board of the Vermejo Conservancy District, the Election Board for Springer Electric Co.; Senior Companion Grandparenting Board and Board of Housing Authority for Maxwell, New Mexico.


She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Rich; a daughter Deanna Rich Lusk; a grandson, Matthew Ryan Hightower, her parents, six brothers and five sisters.


Survivors include a son, David and Kathy Rich of Spearman, Texas; Four daughters: Joanie and Phil Hightower of Sunray, Texas; Ruth Luksich of Raton, N.M; Fern and Keith Mangelsdorf of Early, Texas; Penny and David Raines of Bosque Farms, N.M., twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers Johnny and Judy Caldwell; Fred and Juanita Caldwell all of Springer, New Mexico; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.


In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to Springer Cemetery Fund in care of City Hall, Springer, New Mexico 87747.
