Bernardo "Slim Jr." Avalos, Jr., 65, of Tifton died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Pinehill Baptist Church in Sumner. Rev. Donnie Wright will officiate with burial to follow at Pinehill Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumner. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Avalos was born on April 7, 1949 in Laredo, Texas and was the son of Andrea De Leon Avalos of Omega and the late Bernardo "Slim" Avalos, Sr. He was a carpenter and a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Sumner.

Mr. Avalos is survived by his wife, Bonnie Avalos of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Kaylee Avalos of Tifton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, David and Francis Avalos of Tifton and Louis Avalos of Omega; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Gonzalo Gonzalez of Tifton, Hilda and Santos Gonzales of Moultrie, Diana and Andrew Mendieta of Omega, and Andrea and Ricky Dean of Tifton; and one granddaughter, Baylee Faye Avalos.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave. Suite 100, Albany, Georgia 31701.
