TALLENT, EFFIE AKINS, age 97, of Vonore, widow of Tom Tallent, passed away at noon Friday, May 25, 2012 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was the oldest member of Vonore Baptist Church. She loved hand quilting and won several blue and red ribbons. She also loved working in her flowers, garden and shopping. Preceded in death by grandson, David Tallent Millsaps, parents, George and Mary Akins, brothers, Troy, Roy, Joe and two infant brothers; sister, Cora Isbill; son-in-law, Jack D. Hawke. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, daughters and sons-in-law, grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sisters, brother. Funeral 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Vonore Baptist Church, Rev. Dennis Cagle, Rev. William Bell officiating. Interment 11:00 a.m. Monday, Vonore Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Vonore Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 308, Vonore, TN 37885. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Vonore Baptist Church.
